Shoulder Care

Dr. Keller is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon with extensive, fellowship-level training in both advanced arthroscopic and open surgery of the shoulder.

The shoulder joint is more than just a “ball and socket”.  It is a complex structure of multiple articulations, ligaments, tendons and muscles that all assist in arm function.  Shoulder injuries are very common and can lead to significant disability in all age groups.

Dr. Keller treats patients from all walks of life, from weekend warriors to professional athletes, and considers each patient’s goals when creating a treatment plan. For each patient with a shoulder injury, Dr. Keller performs a detailed review of the history as well as a comprehensive physical exam. If necessary, Dr. Keller will obtains x-rays and/or an MRI to further evaluate the structures in the shoulder.  Many patients benefit from non-surgical management for injuries in the shoulder, including antiinflammatories, activity modification, injections, and/or a dedicated physical therapy program.

The most common injuries that require surgical intervention in the shoulder include rotator cuff tears, shoulder instability (dislocations), labral/SLAP tears, biceps tendon injuries, osteoarthritis, and fractures.  Dr. Keller performs advanced arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder as well as open shoulder surgery depending on the indication.
